Spring rains have finally ceased and Central Montana is in bloom with wildflowers and tall green grass. The countryside resembles the rolling greencarpeted hills of Ireland without the cost to get there. Birds are nesting and our male mountain Blue Birds are an irridescent blue that will make yougasp everytime you see one. Down on the creek you can enjoy an outdoor

aviary show every day you are here in Lewistown, MT. The swallows, redwing

blackbirds, goldfinches, et al are nesting along the shores and flit back

and forth in a rainbow display of colors. Every day at Pheasant Tales begins

with breakfast and a view of the Moccasin and Judith Mountains. This truly

is Big Sky Country!

The creek has finally cleared and the fish are famished. Here at Pheasant

Tales we are keeping our guests up to date on the hatches on Big Spring

Creek and advising them that right now small yellow caddis are emerging

between the hours of 11 AM and 3 PM. #16 beed heads will work to start with

and then a #16 light colored caddis fished in the film or floating high

should take fish.

If fishing is not your bag try hiking to the ice caves at Crystal Lake. The

views are spectacular and the hiking is challenging. Lewistown's two golf

courses will challenge any level golfer. As you tee off you will be cheered

on by the rooster pheasants crowing in the surrounding rough. Be careful not

to hit the deer crossing the course!

Take a nap after enjoying the outdoors and then enjoy a gourmet meal in our

Montana room as you savour the last moments of the day watching the

sunset.We are enjoying our smoker here at Pheasant Tales and would love to
