Nursing (Job) Burnout Retreat in Three Rivers - Sequoia National Park, CA
A personal four-day retreat addressing the issue of burnout in the work environment will be held on January 5-9, 2009, in Three Rivers. The retreat is specifically designed for nurses and healthcare professionals experiencing nursing burnout, but it is open and applicable to anyone with job burnout. Participants will be given practical ways to dive deeper into their inner resources, which often feel very depleted when they finally acknowledge, "I am really burned out." While there may be no magic solutions or quick fixes to burnout, there are approaches that invite transformation and change which are nurtured and explored within the creative assignments and exercises in this retreat. Part of the retreat involves a visit to Sequoia National Parkfor a contemplative gentle walk among the powerful Giant Sequoias. Drawn from "the holistic nursing approach" and the potential of integrative medicine, this retreat is one of two workshops offered by The Deeper Well. They include Transition One called "Beyond Nursing (Job) Burnout: launching your transformation" and Transition Two called "Re-Membering the Healer's Spirit: deepening into the discovery journey." There are additional dates offered for both levels (see The Deeper Well) and California and Nevada nurses will receive 30 hours of continuing education for each retreat (California Nursing Provider #13161.)
The retreat is taught by Elsah Cort, RN, who has practiced as a registered nurse for 39 years in a wide variety of nursing fields, including psychiatric nursing, operating room, pediatrics, ICU, hemodialysis, and, recently, seven years in home health nursing. She graduated from the Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1969. Cort has been practicing craniosacral work since 1997, blending the work with a feng shui consultation practice since 1998. She has completed the curriculum in Visionary Craniosacral Work with The Milne Institute and studied with Charles Ridley (Biodynamic Craniosacral Work) and with The Upledger Institute. She has been a resident of Three Rivers, California, since 1977 and is now dedicating her professional work to the care of nurses, and others who also have job burnout, through her teaching and writing via The Deeper Well.

NOTE: Three Rivers, California, is about 4-5 hours Southeast of the Bay Area and 4 hours Northeast of Los Angeles, in the Sierra Nevada foothills, at the entrance to Sequoia National Park, east of Visalia on HWY 198
