GSPO Presents: Chamber Music for Families at the Grand Annex

The Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) enthusiastically presents it's latest musical adventure in this informal, Sunday afternoon series designed to deliver fun & accessible music in an educational format. Featuring the Chamber Players of Los Angeles & other outstanding performers, this series is produced in collaboration with the Grand Vision Foundation. The new GSPO concert series will be presented in San Pedro's newest performance space, the Grand Annex, 434 West 6th Street, located just steps from the historic Warner Grand Theatre. A woodwind quintet concert composed by Cuban composer Paquito D'Rivera, featuring the winds of the Chamber Players of Los Angeles. This family event will be a great introduction to the woodwind family & interaction of Jazz & classical music. This is a fun educational event for all young at heart music lovers.

Sunday March 22, 2009 at 3 pm - CrossPulse brings percussive dance & body music to Grand Annex Series

CrossPulse is a "body music" performance company; under artistic direction of founder & Guggenheim Fellow Keith Terry, CrossPulse is a self-described non-profit arts organization "dedicated to the creation, performance & recording of rhythm-based, intercultural music & dance."

Part international drill team, part poly-cultural rhythm section, the Crosspulse Percussion Quintet brings together synchronized movement, world drumming, lush vocals, & innovative body music. Each member of the ensemble brings their own deep traditions to the floor, to mix & mingle, creating a unique cultural experience!

CrossPulse Percussion Quintet features Keith Terry (Jazz, Body Music), Evie Ladin (Appalachian), Omar Ledezma (Afro-Cuban), Tacuma King (West African) & Amber Hines (African-American).
