Stratos Jets arranges one-way flights for news outlets travelling to Port Au Prince, Haiti
By Christine Harper
For immediate release: Stratos Jet Charters, Inc. announced Wednesday afternoon that it is now offering one-way jet charter service to new organizations travelling to Haiti to report on the tragic Port Au Prince earthquake incident.
Stratos Jets’ charter agents now have the ability to arrange charter flights from Miami and private jet charters from Fort Lauderdale into the Santo Domingo Dominican Republic (MDSD) airport, where weight limitations are less-restrictive than at the recently reopened Port Au Prince Airport (MTPP). With as less as four hours notice, Stratos Jets can make arrangements to fly a news crews carrying heavy filming equipment into the Dominican Republic on a private jet, and can also provide ground transportation into the city upon arrival.
Currently, Stratos Jets is offering one-way charter flights from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport (FLL)to Santo Domingo on a 12-passenger commuter aircraft at a starting price of $15,750. The flight to the Dominican Republic can take as little as three and a half hours to complete, and news crews can rest assure that their aircraft meets with Stratos Jets’ high safety standards.
According to Joel Thomas, President of Stratos Jets, his charter agents have already arranged a successful one-way charter flight into Santo Domingo for one news crew, and will continue to offer the same, efficient service for other news teams over the next couple of days. Thomas said that during an emergency evacuation period, jet operators have the tendency to gouge prices for flights and that it’s of the upmost importance to utilize an expert charter agent to find the best, possible price for your flight.
Thomas also said that he feels he has a moral obligation to help as many media outlets and disaster relief teams as possible reach the disaster site and report on the situation at hand.
“During crises like these, it’s important that our news teams are there, reporting on what’s happening every step of the way,” Thomas said. “Stratos Jets has the ability and therefore the obligation to find the best, most well-maintained aircraft for our media crews and help the people of Port Au Prince.”
